http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/world/washington-school-shooting-2-dead-including-lone-gunman-1.2812380

So a very sad story today that some of you may have heard already. Marysville Pilchuk High school,in Washington, experienced a school shooting. It happened today during lunch time in the cafeteria. A student pulled out a gun and shot at least 3 others. The police have not released the shooters identity, but what I've seen on a twitter, it was reported that shooter was the schools Homecoming Prince. President Obama has been notified and may adress it tonight.

This will certainly spark up a gun control issue debate. Its seems as more and more time goes past, the more and more school shootings happen. What are your guys take? Should it be harder for people to get guns? Should there be sanity tests?

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2014/10/23/358310267/report-says-unc-grade-boosting-scandal-involved-fake-classes

So the University of North Carolina has been part of a coup. Apparently, over the last 20 years 3,000 students , many student athletes, benefited from grade boosts. The student athletes were enrolled in "paper classes", or fake classes but on paper are real, and received credit for them. These paper classes were included in over 188 courses. The biggest reason for these classes was to keep the athletes eligible to play. Many other students were in the classes were unaware of the fact that they were fake, and there diplomas could be under review.

This really irks my that UNC would do this. It's not fair for the students who actually completed the class, but they could lose their diplomas. It's ridiculous that UNC would give "special treatment" to their athletes and don't require them to actually earn their credits. I think that if UNC did this, there is a big chance that other universities and colleges do it too.

So going back to the shooting of Michael Brown. His death at the hands of a police officer sparked protests for months in Ferguson. Eyewitness accounts claimed that Brown was running away when he was shot, but a new autopsy report says that he was shot facing the police officer. The officer who shot Brown claims that he was pinned in his car and struggling over his gun with Brown and that's when he shot him.

I think that as more and more evidence comes out with the shooting, there is to many conflicting point on views. Witnesses report Brown was shot defenceless and running away while others say he was fighting and struggling   with the officer and then shot as an act of self defence. I think that the truth is going to be hard to find and we may never know what it is.

So for my post this week, I have a story about good ol' North Korea. Apparently, North and South Korea will have high-level talks in early November. During the closing ceremonies of the 2014 Asian Games, South Korea's Prime Minister Chung Hong-won met with North Korea's military and political leaders. This is the first time that the South Korean prime minister has met with North Korean officials since 2007, when Kim Jong-Il was the Dear Leader. A survey showed that over half of South Koreans are in support for reunification with the north. In another survey it showed that only 14 percent of South Koreans see North Korea as enemies, 90 percent said that the north would never give up its nuclear weapons, and 75 percent said North Korea might "launch an armed provocation." Also, sources say that Kim Jong-Un has edema in at least one ankle joint and will require surgery. Very random but its a fun fact you can tell your friends.

I was pretty shocked when only 14 percent of South Koreans actually saw North Korea as enemies. I guess its probably due to the fact that they're technically still at war with each other and so I've always thought that they didn't like each other much. But like the 90 percent, I don't think that North Korea with ever give up their nuclear weapons. But who knows? Maybe someday the Korea's will be reunited.

For my post this week I'm taking about a story that happened here in American Fork. Del Taco was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday morning (or Tuesday night) at midnight this week. The intruder demanded 2 employees to give him the cash in the register. He then left and probably took some Del Inferno with him. The intruder, now identified as Josef Hardesty, was also involved in the robberies of two other Utah County restaurants. An Arby's in Springville and Hungry Howies Pizza in Orem were both robbed by a 5 ft 10 white male, hooded, and threatened by him with a knife.

This is pretty scary because it's actually a pretty big crime committed in our neck of the woods. This hooded maurader needs to be stopped. It makes me angry that there's no way, in some cases, that people can willy-nilly rob a burrito shop.

Today I read an article about 2 police officers that were affiliated with the Ku Klux Klan in Florida. The FBI told Cheif Terry Issacs, of Fruitland Park, of Deputy Chief  David Borst and Officer George Hunwell involvement with the group. Borst denied any accusation of being part of the Klan, even though an informant told the FBI otherwise, and resigned Thursday. Hunwell was fired on Friday after 3 informants told the FBI. The two were active members of the KKK during 2005-2009. All arrests made by the officers are being reviewed by the State Attorney Office.

Since the involvement of the two officers, this means that all arrests made on all ethnic groups are being reviewed. The criminals, guilty or not guilty, can say that the arrests were made by racial profiling and can be released from prison. It's disappointing that some officers that protect us are indeed racists. In my opinion, there will never be a fix to racism which is saddening.

I read an article the other day that was interesting. A high school student took his life after being bullied about his homosexuality. His organs were able to be saved for donation. His heart, lungs, kidneys and other organs were given to others, but his eyes were not accepted due to his sexual orientation. The reasoning behind it was because of a regulation that the FDA( who regulate eye donars) made over 30 years that banned homosexuals from donating eyes in fear of the Aids virus from spreading.

I could see why  it was acceptable over 30 years for this regulation when we didn't know much about Aids, but  I feel that there is no reason for it now that we're more advanced medically.
