For my post this week I'm taking about a story that happened here in American Fork. Del Taco was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday morning (or Tuesday night) at midnight this week. The intruder demanded 2 employees to give him the cash in the register. He then left and probably took some Del Inferno with him. The intruder, now identified as Josef Hardesty, was also involved in the robberies of two other Utah County restaurants. An Arby's in Springville and Hungry Howies Pizza in Orem were both robbed by a 5 ft 10 white male, hooded, and threatened by him with a knife.

This is pretty scary because it's actually a pretty big crime committed in our neck of the woods. This hooded maurader needs to be stopped. It makes me angry that there's no way, in some cases, that people can willy-nilly rob a burrito shop.

Today I read an article about 2 police officers that were affiliated with the Ku Klux Klan in Florida. The FBI told Cheif Terry Issacs, of Fruitland Park, of Deputy Chief  David Borst and Officer George Hunwell involvement with the group. Borst denied any accusation of being part of the Klan, even though an informant told the FBI otherwise, and resigned Thursday. Hunwell was fired on Friday after 3 informants told the FBI. The two were active members of the KKK during 2005-2009. All arrests made by the officers are being reviewed by the State Attorney Office.

Since the involvement of the two officers, this means that all arrests made on all ethnic groups are being reviewed. The criminals, guilty or not guilty, can say that the arrests were made by racial profiling and can be released from prison. It's disappointing that some officers that protect us are indeed racists. In my opinion, there will never be a fix to racism which is saddening.
