I read an article the other day that was interesting. A high school student took his life after being bullied about his homosexuality. His organs were able to be saved for donation. His heart, lungs, kidneys and other organs were given to others, but his eyes were not accepted due to his sexual orientation. The reasoning behind it was because of a regulation that the FDA( who regulate eye donars) made over 30 years that banned homosexuals from donating eyes in fear of the Aids virus from spreading.
I could see why it was acceptable over 30 years for this regulation when we didn't know much about Aids, but I feel that there is no reason for it now that we're more advanced medically.
